What are the symptoms that I should look out for with regard
to gestational diabetes?
The symptoms of gestational diabetes are the same as other
types of diabetes, but the symptoms can get confused with
the normal symptoms of pregnancy. For example, tiredness
is a symptom of both gestational diabetes and also pregnancy.
However, you may also be very thirsty and need to urinate
frequently. Although pregnancy also creates the urge to
urinate, usually the volume of urine is small each time.
With diabetes, there will be large amounts of urine.
If you are at all concerned about any of these symptoms,
then you should discuss the situation with you doctor, who
may advise that you have a simple urine test to check the
level of sugar in your urine. This can be a good first indicator
of whether there is a problem.
