  Pregnancy: Heartburn – Reason

What is it?

Heartburn is a burning sensation of your stomach and throat and has nothing to do with your heart. It occurs when stomach acids rise back up into the oesophagus. Indigestion is a feeling of being stuffed and bloated. Both symptoms are caused by the pregnancy hormones, which cause the muscles to relax throughout your body. So the gastro intestinal tract doesn’t work as effectively as usual.
