  Overheating

Even though it’s winter and everyone else is warmly dressed, I feel hot all the time, and am still wearing summer clothes. It is really bothering my friends, who are sure I am going to end up with pneumonia! Is it normal to be so hot when pregnant?

What happens to your system when you are pregnant is that your metabolism increases. This means that even when you are resting, your system is working harder and faster than usual. In addition, you have a larger volume of blood. This accounts for the fact that many women feel very warm and perspire a lot when they are pregnant.

The downside of this can be that you feel overheated at night and it affects your sleep. The increased perspiration is designed to help you cool off a bit, and is also an effective way for your system to rid itself of toxins. However, it can be a bit unpleasant to perspire that much.
