Pregnant while using Contraceptives – The Pill

I got such a fright when I found out that I was six weeks pregnant because I have been taking birth control pills all that time. Will the baby be harmed?

While it is not ideal to be taking birth control pills while pregnant, there is no firm evidence that this will affect your baby. This is in spite of what you may read on the package insert. The best option you have is to have a good discussion with your doctor and see if that makes you feel less anxious.

If you are planning to fall pregnant then it is advisable to wait around three months after stopping the Pill before conceiving.
