|What is an ultrasound scan?
Ultrasound scan (ultrasonography) is a painless technique
to examine many parts of a body. It gives us important details
about the habit of organs. This scan works in a similar way
to a sound navigation system in a submarine. An ultrasound
scan uses very high frequency sound waves, sent by a device
on your abdomen which observes the inner area. The waves bounce
back if they hit an organ and so doctor and patient can see
the result on a computer display. Due to this technique you
are also able to see moving parts in the womb, like the heart
of a baby.
