Tuberculosis

Information about Tuberculosis.

Tuberculosis is a disease that takes many forms, and children under the age of three are susceptible to the generalized form of this disease. It spreads through the lymph glands to many parts of the body. TB is often fatal and is a bacterial infection spread through water-born droplets. It is extremely contagious and a major killer of children in Africa. After an incubation time of between two and twelve weeks, the patient will have a fever, night sweats, exhaustion, and weight loss, and a wet cough, sometimes blood-stained. Survivors are likely to have lung damage.
