Baby

Socialising

I really enjoy mother and baby days because I get a chance to meet and chat with people in the same situation as myself! Can there be any value in these outings for my small baby?

Experts are divided on this issue. Since babies have a natural inclination to stare at faces, there may be some benefit in seeing new people. Most babies love this kind of function and since their brains are taking in all these new stimuli, there could be educational value in these functions. Around six months more active socialising starts and babies will be drawn to one another, wanting to touch and interact.

But an important fact that should not be overlooked is that your baby’s welfare is closely linked to yours. So the fact that you find these events relaxing and helpful means that your baby is gaining the benefit of your relaxation. So enjoy your meetings, knowing that both you and your baby are benefiting!
